Dr. Devrim Demir DORA

Dr. Devrim Demir Dora was born in Ankara in 1972. She has graduated from Ankara Atatürk Anatolian High School in 1990 and Hacettepe University Faculty of Pharmacy in 1995. She got her Msc degree from Hacettepe University Graduate School of Health Sciences Pharmaceutical Biotechnology Program with the thesis entitled ‘Studies on Gene Therapy by DNA Delivery Systems’. She has got her Pharmaceutical Biotechnology PhD degree with the thesis entitled ‘Production of Bacillus peptide pheromone by Recombinant DNA Technology and optimization of transformation efficiency’ from Hacettepe University Graduate School of Health Sciences Pharmaceutical Biotechnology Program. She has worked as a Research Assistant at Hacettepe University Faculty of Pharmacy, Pharmaceutical Biotechnology Department from 1996 to 2005. She has worked as a pharmacist at Turkish Ministry of Health, General Directorate of Pharmaceuticals and Pharmacy, Quality Control Department and she has participated in GMP Inspection team especially for the biotechnology derived products, from 2005 to 2007. She has worked as an Assistant Professor between 2007-2010 at Ege University Faculty of Pharmacy Department of Pharmaceutical Biotechnology and since 2010 at Akdeniz University Faculty of Medicine Department of Medical Pharmacology.
Besides her academic duties, Dr. Demir Dora has been worked as ‘Biotechnology Advisory Board Member’ for approval of biotechnological/biosimilar medicinal products between 2009-2018 and ‘Biological Medicinal Products Advisory Board Member’ for approval of vaccines between 2016-2018 at Turkish Medicines and Medical Devices Agency. Since 2005, she contributes to the legal regulation of biotechnological/biosimilar medicinal products in legal authorities of Turkey.
Her areas of interest are recombinant protein production, production and regulation of biotechnological and biosimilar products, development of biopharmaceuticals, nanotechnology, advanced therapy medicinal products, gene therapy medicinal products, development of non viral nucleic acid delivery systems for gene therapy, cancer therapy, bacterial transformation, quorum sensing mechanism and genetic competence. She has ‘Bacterial Transformation Kit’ patent.
